Trivalry!
Trivalry! is a turn-based strategy game for two players about earning points by placing tiles to complete structures.
You can either play against a CPU, or use the arrows on the main menu to let another human player play in local head-to-head.
There is a stat page that tracks some of your highlights and your performance over time vs. the CPUs. Unlocking the unlockable characters and getting your stats above a certain threshold gives you progress toward perfection, with a special prize when you get to 100%.
How to Play
- On your turn, choose a tile from your hand to play, or play the top tile of the deck. Your hand is the three rightmost tiles at the bottom of the screen; the top tile of the deck is the leftmost tile. Your opponent's hand is visible under their scorecard.
- A tile can be placed if all its edges that touch other tiles match. Use the mouse wheel to rotate tiles.
- When you complete a HEAP (creating a closed dark area with no exposed edges) or LANE (creating a line that starts and ends at a circle symbol), you score points equal to the number of tiles in the structure. Some tiles award bonus points!
- When you play a WILD tile, you can move a different tile before or after you place it. You place the wild tile first by default, but you can choose to move a tile first by clicking the button to the right of your hand.
- You score every time you place a tile that completes a structure, even when the move was part of a wild tile play.
- The contents of the deck can be viewed by hovering the numbered triangle between the two score cards. After the deck and both hands have no more playable tiles, the player with the most points wins.
Known Issues
This is an ALPHA version of the game. It is in a mostly-playable state, but I have taken an indefinite break from working on it, so I wanted to put it out there even though it's not quite where I want it yet.
- AI will occasionally cheat. Sorry.
- UI is not as clear as it could be-- there is no real ingame tutorial, so the learning curve is a lot steeper than I'd like in general
- There are a couple of visual bugs, like the tile outline not correctly indicating where a tile can be placed in certain situations, and some scaling issues on mobile.
- Scoring plays that complete multiple lanes simultaneously can sometimes be miscalculated.
- The CPUs are rather slow when trying to figure out what to do with a wild tile.
- The CPUs are generally rather stupid and quite easy to beat.
- The CPU players don't play differently from each other at this point. In the final version, the red one would be an "expert" level player.
That all said, please let me know what you think, and feel free to feed back on the design of the game as well. Thanks! <3
